Job Title: Staff Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (1:00 PM - 1:00 AM) Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: EPIC experience Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial, and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care is essential to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessments upon patient admission and develops appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs. Implementing nursing interventions and patient care procedures is a key responsibility. The RN modifies plans of care based on continuous evaluation. It is the responsibility of the RN to ensure patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication with others directly and in private when necessary is important to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand the knowledge base. Identifying own learning needs and taking initiative to find appropriate solutions is encouraged. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is required. The RN implements procedures and theories specific to emergency department nursing. Collaboration with providers, family, and patients to perform assessments and develop care plans is essential. Executing plans of care and nursing interventions is a critical aspect of the role. Modifying care plans based on continuous assessment enhances patient care. The RN is responsible for patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions and adherence to safety standards. Communication and collaboration with staff, visitors, and families promote a healthy and healing work environment. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation is crucial. A 2-week night rotation is required of all travelers. No block scheduling is permitted.
