Route Delivery Driver - Lead

Summary A Lead Driver on our Transportation team supports the efficient operation of our distribution facility’s transportation activities. The role involves managing transportation assets, promoting environmental sustainability, and driving continuous improvement through collaboration and teamwork across the supply chain. It is ideal for someone who is organized, analytical, and committed to continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Operational Management Lead planning and optimization of delivery routes to ensure efficient, timely distribution of goods. Oversee and coordinate drivers’ activities, ensuring adherence to schedules, safety protocols, and delivery procedures. Ensure vehicles are well‑maintained, serviced regularly, and comply with safety standards to prevent breakdowns and ensure smooth operations. Ensure accurate completion of delivery documentation, such as invoices, delivery receipts, and inspection reports, and provide timely performance‑metric reports. Assist in inventory management by verifying quantities, checking for damaged goods, and ensuring accurate loading and unloading of products. Customer Service & Compliance Interact with customers professionally. Resolve complaints and maintain positive relationships. Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, including hours‑of‑service regulations, vehicle weight limits, and traffic laws to mitigate risk and maintain regulatory compliance. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the position. Education & Experience Required High school diploma or GED. Minimum of four years’ experience in a similar supervisory role. Minimum of three years’ experience in fleet management, routing, and safety compliance. Valid driver’s license. DOT Compliance and audit knowledge. Preferred Associate degree in a related field. Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL). Forklift certification. Physical Requirements Sedentary work; walking and standing required only occasionally. Reach, extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Fingering – picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers. Speaking – expressing or exchanging ideas verbally; accurate, loud, or quick instruction delivery required. Hearing – perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction; ability to receive detailed oral information. Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, view computer terminal, read extensively. Repetitive motion – substantial movements of wrists, hands, and fingers. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Working Conditions Office and warehouse environment. Moderate noise level. Plant exposure to wet, cold, and/or humid temperatures. Standard office equipment and heavy machinery. Benefits Total compensation: $27.50-$31.00 per hour.
