It prepares you for work on a maintenance crew that supports safe and efficient travel. As a PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee, you will perform the following duties:Equipment Training: Learn to operate heavy trucks, loaders, and related equipment for highway and bridge maintenanceSafety Practices: Follow proper safety procedures and protective equipment requirements to maintain a safe work environmentTool Operation: Use motorized and non-motorized hand tools for manual labor tasks such as patching, trimming, and clearing work areasWorksite Awareness: Monitor surroundings to help prevent hazards, report injuries or accidents, and support safe crew operationsEnvironmental Duties: Carry out environmental protection and management requirements associated with maintenance activitiesWork Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Travel, overtime and shift work is required.
