Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. Appointee's civilian assignments will consist of the following duties.

The primary purpose of this position is: as an Air Force Reserve Technician (ART) Officer to serve as the Senior ART/ Commander of the Logistics Readiness Squadron. Functions as the senior technical advisor as well as the supervisor of logistics readiness operations including but not limited to: readiness; logistics planning; resource management; supply and transportation support; procedures and systems; etc. Provides training to reservists in the accomplishment of the tasks set forth herein.

  • DUTY 1: Serves as the focal point for squadron/wing logistics readiness support for contingencies, peacetime and deployment requirements.
  • DUTY 2: Provides technical advice and assistance to wing leadership on business processes and performance and efficiency of logistics readiness functions of the squadron/wing.
  • DUTY 3: As the squadron senior technical advisor on logistics readiness and AEF issues, performs/leads studies, and provides technical advice and assistance on development and implementation of readiness mission capabilities.
  • DUTY 4: Represents the wing regarding logistics readiness issues at meetings within the organization and at conferences with MAJCOM, HQ USAF, DoD, and other agencies.
  • DUTY 5: Plans, organizes, and maintains oversight of the activities of the Logistics Readiness Squadron, ensuring the planning efforts and work products and services of all the squadron functions comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.

  • This position is for an Air Force Reserve Technician (ART) Officer. Serves as the Senior ART/Commander of Logistics Readiness Squadron.

  • If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement. More information on PCS requirements, may be found at:
  • Total salary varies depending on location of position
  • This posn is subject to provision of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force Reserve. Retired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.

  • Direct Deposit: All federal employees are required to have direct deposit.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions, Logisitics Management Series 0346.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of federal and agency logistics concepts, principles, practices, procedures, regulations and laws applicable to a full range of logistics management responsibilities. Ability to interpret interstate commerce laws and regulations for application to achieve national security readiness requirements for the wing. NOTE: Must be reflected in your resume.

FEDERALTIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of a wide range of federal and agency logistics concepts, principles, practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to a full range of logistics management to include cargo movement, supply requirements, structure and processes, equipment and vehicles management, storage, deployment planning and operations, global fuels and cryogenics, and logistic plans under peacetime and wartime conditions to develop and recommend policies and procedures for the squadron.
  2. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations.
  3. Skill in analyzing issues and formulating solutions to complex problems.
  4. Ability to plan, organize and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Ability to mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
  5. Ability to identify, analyze, and translate complex information, make appropriate judgments, and evaluate options concerning base readiness. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  6. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:
  1. This is an ART position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies. The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to fly in commercial or military aircraft for performance of TDY.
  2. Incumbent must be willing to move/transfer to another unit/ location on a lateral or promotion as directed by HQAFRC.
  3. This is a key management position in which the incumbent is required to formulate, determine or influence training policies of the unit to which assigned.
  4. The incumbent must possess demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities essential to successful accomplishment of the responsibilities inherent in a senior command position
  5. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
  6. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week .

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE:
Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
