Core Network Engineer (IMS) – Richardson, TX ECLARO is seeking an experienced engineer to manage IMS infrastructure and support wholesale customer solutions for VoLTE and VoNR. Position Overview The Core Network Engineer (IMS) works within the Engineering department, responsible for deploying, managing, and supporting IMS solutions that meet the needs of wholesale customers. Responsibilities Core Network Management Operational integrity, performance, and evolution of IMS voice services. Day‑to‑day operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of IMS platforms. Lifecycle management, configuration, software upgrades, vendor coordination, capacity planning, and fault resolution. Management of IMS interconnections (SIP, SIP‑I) to PSTN, IPX, roaming partners, and emergency services, including routing policies, codec negotiation, security controls, and testing. Act as technical escalation point and SME for VoLTE/VoNR call flows, SIP signalling, RTP media handling, and open source 5G core platforms. Support roaming and wholesale teams for new roaming agreements, including configuration, IREG testing, and fault resolution during commercial launches. Projects Collaborate with Solution Architects to develop High Level Design (HLD) documentation. Own solution deployment for contracted wholesale customers. Participate in post‑mortem meetings to capture lessons learned. Operations Support NOC with proactive and reactive customer issues. Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post‑incident reviews. Assist with planned maintenance, change management, and software upgrades. Participate in emergency call rotation for critical issues. Skills Development Continuously develop expertise in IMS, VoLTE, VoNR, and emerging 5G voice technologies. Measurement Performance measured by service availability, MTTR, successful deployment, incident reduction, and quality of documentation. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. 5–8 years in telecommunications designing, integrating, and managing IMS networks for carriers or MVNOs. In‑depth knowledge of IMS network elements, interfaces, protocols, and call flows. Expertise in Voice SIP/RTP, voice convergence technologies, and IMS applications (VoLTE/VoNR). Ability to design and configure mobile data networks. Understanding of SS7, SIGTRAN, and related protocols. Experience with Diameter, DRA, RADIUS, and IMS elements such as SBG, BGF, MTAS, CSCF. Knowledge of Ericsson products and MPBN management is a plus. DNS configuration and troubleshooting skills. Packet‑switched protocols and APN management experience. Strong understanding of 3GPP, ITU‑T, and ANSI standards. Knowledge of roaming agreements, IREG testing, and related processes. IP networking, IPv4/IPv6, VPN, IPSec, and transport protocols; CCNA certification preferred. Strong troubleshooting, fault detection, preventive maintenance, and capacity management skills. Understanding of Lawful Intercept and CALEA requirements is a plus. Track record of designing technical solutions that meet commercial needs.
