Respiratory Therapist (80135)

Qualifications Unencumbered registered or certified Respiratory Therapist licensed in Colorado. Active CRT or RRT credential. Associate degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Minimum one year of experience in a skilled nursing and/or acute care setting. Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Knowledgeable user of Point Click Care (PCC). Role Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, the primary responsibility of the RRT/CRT is to perform respiratory/pulmonary therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation, and direct care to residents with pulmonary system deficiencies or abnormalities. On a typical day, the Respiratory Therapist reviews resident assignments for the shift, including current vitals, completed treatments, and symptoms. They visit assigned residents to assess lung capacity, measure carbon dioxide and oxygen levels in the blood, evaluate symptoms, and adjust treatments as necessary. Essential Duties Receives and follows schedules and instructions for resident care as assigned by the Director of Nursing and in accordance with established policies and regulatory guidelines. Performs focused interviews to identify specific resident needs. Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes and notifies the supervisor, documenting in PCC. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data from health care members and documents diagnoses, coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team (IDT) in PCC. Collaborates with the nursing team primarily responsible for the resident. Communicates with physicians as needed and ensures electronic documentation of resident care needs. Complies with PHI and HIPAA policies regarding resident status disclosure. Plans for resident outcomes and performs interventions according to identified priorities and the community’s plan of care. Adheres to emergency, safety, and infection control procedures of the community. Promotes effective interpersonal communication and participates in related activities. Reports changes in resident respiratory status to Directors of Nursing and Respiratory Care. Maintains a strong working rapport with inter-department personnel.
