About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room, Med-surg Peds, Med-surg Mother/Baby, Med-surg Adult, Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 32 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a healthcare setting as a Registered Nurse preferred License: Must be licensed in good standing as a Registered Professional Nurse Certifications: Current BLS Must-Have: Completion of an NLN approved nursing education program Description: Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Directs and coordinates nursing care based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Serves as a resource person in various situations. Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Supports the mission statement of the organization. Responsible for care of all patients from birth to elderly. Required to demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Ability to practice nursing according to relevant regulations. Cognitive and technical knowledge required with the ability to manage care across the continuum of care. Must be flexible with work schedule and possess the ability for independent actions within prescribed limits. Utilizes the nursing process in the provision of patient care. Administers treatments, medications, and interprets diagnostic tests. Provides patient, family, and significant other education and collaborates with other professionals. Knowledge of medical terminology is necessary. Ability to work in a patient care setting. Basic EKG skills and fundamental nursing skills are essential. Must be capable of reading, analyzing, and interpreting professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to document actions involved in care delivery. Follows guidelines and procedures effectively. Able to present information and respond to questions from various groups. Theoretical knowledge of the nursing process, care management, and continuity of care is required. Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, are necessary. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, draw and interpret graphs, and input computer information. Problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to deal with a variety of concrete variables and interpret a variety of instructions. Supervisory responsibilities include collaboration with the Charge Nurse.
