Middle School Girls Volleyball Head Coach

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Athletic Director, the Middle School Girls Volleyball Head Coach will lead the program, focusing on player development, team strategy, and overall success. The coach fosters a positive, respectful culture rooted in discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork, preparing players for varsity competition. This role requires travel and work in evenings and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Player evaluation and development Assess players consistently and fairly to determine playing time, positions, and readiness. Develop fundamental volleyball skills and game understanding. Team Leadership Foster a positive, disciplined culture emphasizing sportsmanship. Design and execute organized, efficient practices addressing individual and team needs. Develop and implement game plans, making in‑game adjustments. Supervise player behavior and conduct to ensure a safe environment during practices, games, and travel. Coordinate with athletic directors to align systems, terminology, and expectations. Student athlete support and mentorship Serve as a positive role model, encouraging personal growth and accountability. Encourage athletes to maintain eligibility and prioritize education. Maintain clear communication with players, parents, varsity staff, and administration.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Attend coaches meetings, trainings, and events as scheduled. Embody the school’s mission and values. Support and follow school policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

Passion for coaching student athletes. Successfully pass a mandatory background check. CPR & First Aid certification or ability to obtain it. Ability to motivate, teach, and recruit qualified student‑athletes. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and prioritization. Experience working and communicating with diverse groups. Professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality. Decision‑making and conflict handling skills. Problem‑solving and creativity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Deep understanding of volleyball fundamentals, rules, and regulations. Ability to develop game plans and adjust strategies during games. Experience with player development and skill progression. Useful/Preferred Experience coaching at the high school, competitive club, or collegiate level.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Assist athletes of various weights and heights. Stand for long periods with good mobility and frequent walking. Carry training kits and coolers for long distances. Lift items up to 15 pounds frequently; occasionally up to 50 pounds. Bend at hips and knees. Vision requirements: close, distance, peripheral, depth, focus. Operate in noisy, crowded environments.

COMPENSATION & TERM
