State Line Cafe & More is a locally owned and growing convenience store, carryout, and limited video lottery company with multiple locations throughout the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. We are committed to providing exceptional customer service, clean and inviting stores, quality food, and a first-class gaming experience.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated leader to oversee day-to-day operations while helping drive the continued growth and success of our company.

Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of State Line Cafe & More. This individual will provide leadership across all areas of the business, ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, employee development, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building teams, solving problems, improving systems, and taking ownership of business results.

Primary Responsibilities

Operations

• Oversee daily operations across all locations.
• Ensure stores consistently meet company standards for cleanliness, appearance, food quality, and customer service.
• Develop and improve operational procedures.
• Maintain high standards of safety, security, and compliance.

Leadership

• Recruit, hire, train, and develop managers and employees.
• Build a culture centered around accountability, teamwork, and customer service.
• Coach managers through regular performance reviews and mentoring.
• Address employee concerns professionally and promptly.

Financial Management

• Manage labor costs and scheduling.
• Monitor sales, margins, and operating expenses.
• Analyze financial reports and identify opportunities for increased profitability.
• Control inventory shrink and waste.
• Ensure accurate cash handling and financial reporting.

Customer Experience

• Create an exceptional experience for every customer.
• Resolve customer issues quickly and professionally.
• Maintain high standards throughout every location.
• Build customer loyalty through outstanding service.

Inventory & Merchandising

• Oversee purchasing and inventory management.
• Maintain proper product mix and merchandising standards.
• Reduce out-of-stocks and unnecessary inventory.
• Coordinate seasonal and promotional displays.

Food Service

• Maintain food quality and consistency.
• Ensure food safety standards are followed at all times.
• Monitor production efficiency and profitability.
• Identify opportunities to grow prepared food sales.

Gaming Operations

• Ensure compliance with all West Virginia Limited Video Lottery regulations.
• Maintain gaming equipment and gaming areas to company standards.
• Maximize gaming revenue through exceptional customer service and operational consistency.

Facilities

• Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure stores remain attractive, clean, and fully operational.
• Work with vendors and contractors as needed.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of management experience in convenience stores, retail, restaurant, hospitality, gaming, or multi-unit operations.
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong financial and business management skills.
• Experience managing budgets, labor, inventory, and profitability.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and retail reporting systems.
• Ability to travel between company locations.

• Limited video lottery or gaming operations (preferred but not required)
