Human Resources Business Partner

LAKELAND HEALTH SERVICES is hiring a part-time Human Resources Business Partner to support a Minnesota-based medical services organization. This hybrid role in Minneapolis helps clinical, administrative, and operational teams by owning key HR functions, partnering closely with managers and leadership, and ensuring payroll and HR administration run accurately and on time. What you will do Act as the primary HR leader and trusted advisor to ownership, managers, and employees. Administer and maintain HR processes for a small medical services employer, balancing compliance, efficiency, confidentiality, and employee support. Lead full-cycle recruiting, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, offer letters, background check coordination, and onboarding. Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files, including payroll records, benefit documentation, and compliance-related files. Coordinate biweekly or regular payroll processing through ADP , including timekeeping review, pay changes, deductions, paid time off, payroll approvals, and payroll issue resolution. Partner with ADP and internal leadership to ensure payroll data is accurate, timely, and aligned with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local requirements. Administer employee benefits, including enrollment, eligibility tracking, responding to employee questions, coordinating with carriers, supporting open enrollment, and processing benefit changes. Support compliance with applicable employment laws and workplace requirements, including wage and hour rules, employee wage notices, paid leave, workers' compensation, unemployment, OSHA-related recordkeeping, and required workplace postings. Develop, maintain, and communicate HR policies, including employee handbook updates, job descriptions, offer templates, disciplinary documentation, and separation procedures. Advise managers on employee relations matters, including coaching, corrective action, performance improvement, documentation, workplace concerns, and conflict resolution. Coordinate performance review processes, goal setting, employee development conversations, and compensation recommendations. Support credentialing, licensing, training, and compliance tracking as applicable to medical services roles. Promote a respectful, inclusive, patient-centered workplace culture aligned with the company's mission and values. Maintain confidentiality of employee, payroll, medical, and business information at all times. Serve as the company's internal administrator and primary point of contact for ADP payroll and related HR system functions. Enter and audit employee data, including pay rates, job titles, tax information, direct deposit information, deductions, benefit deductions, paid time off balances, and status changes. Review timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies before payroll submission. Coordinate payroll reporting, year-end payroll processes, W-2 preparation support, and payroll-related notices or documentation. Work with ADP to troubleshoot system issues, implement configuration changes, and improve payroll and HR workflows. Ensure payroll practices support Minnesota employee wage notice requirements, including written notice at hire and written notice before applicable changes take effect. Required qualifications Minimum bachelor’s degree in Employee Resource Management , Human Resources , Business Administration , Healthcare Administration , or a related field. Minimum 10 years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in healthcare, medical services, professional services, or a small-business environment. Direct payroll administration experience, preferably using ADP . Working knowledge of federal and Minnesota employment laws and HR compliance practices. Experience managing recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and HR documentation. Strong judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and ability to manage sensitive employee matters professionally. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support employees at all levels of the organization. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a lean, demanding environment.
