Location: Atascocita - 2310 1/2 Atascocita Rd. Humble, TX 77396 About Our Atascocita Location (Harris County): Gateway's largest facility, Atascocita is a residential correctional center focused solely on substance use treatment for court-ordered clients. With 12 buildings and nearly 500 clients, the facility provides a structured, secure environment without armed guards. Staff work collaboratively in a team of 170, including counselors, probation officers, and support staff. The location is undergoing major renovations to become a state-of-the-art treatment center. We foster a supportive culture with team-building activities, recognition programs, and a strong mission-driven focus on recovery and rehabilitation.

LVN is responsible for: conducting comprehensive nursing assessment of clients' medical needs, conferring with clinical team members to develop care plans, and implementing plans and case management to address identified needs. Performing triage, and routine or complex treatments. Serving as member of treatment team by reporting client observations and evaluations of medical problems. Administering prescribed medications. Conducting educational classes and seminars for clients and staff concerning health, medical issues, infection control and so forth. Maintaining required client charts, documents and records related to assessment, diagnoses, and treatments. Assisting physicians in conducting examinations and treatments.

Job Requirements: associate's degree in nursing, two years related experience in a social service environment, concurrent experience with relevant client population preferred, current state license as a vocational nurse, working knowledge of the principles of physical growth and development and psychosocial development to assess and interpret client data and identify individual needs and provide health-related care appropriate to the developmental stage and client population, ability to manage client health care activities, and work independently in developing and implementing appropriate responses to identified medical needs, strong analytical skills necessary to evaluate medical needs, implement and document nursing care plans, and develop solutions to difficult problems concerning clients' mental or physical well-being, strong communication skills to obtain assessment information, instruct clients and elicit their cooperation in managing their care, conduct educational classes, and maintain effective working relationships and contacts with other employees and health care professionals.

Physical Requirements: normal or corrected vision and some color vision, necessary to read thermometers, blood pressure gauges, dipstick analysis results, and so forth; and to see and evaluate presented symptoms and injuries (critical) communication abilities necessary to gather and exchange information with clients and staff in person or by telephone, provide care instructions, and schedule appointments (critical) proofreading and checking documents for accuracy, and reading reports, on a regular basis (critical) ability to respond to telephone, pages and intercoms (critical) manual dexterity necessary to manipulate instruments and syringes, apply bandages or sterile wipes, and accept and pass instruments and specimens; and touch sensitivity necessary to detect pulse, palpate body areas, and perform treatments with minimal client discomfort (critical) ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data on a regular basis (essential) ability to stoop and bend, ability to reach and grab with arms and hands, and ability to walk and move about for up to two hours at a time (desirable). Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data compensation: $28.00 per hour gateway foundation conducts annual reviews including merit increases.
