To serve our students, the district employs approximately 4,000 employees including more than 1,800 teachers.The job of Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) is done for the purpose/s of assisting a licensed Occupational Therapist in helping students gain functional independence so that they can more completely benefit from the educational environment.Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision of an OTR, using standardized procedures; directing other persons within a small work unit; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization's services.The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 30% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.Job related experience within a specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required. Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area. Associate degree in Occupational Therapy. An Associate's Degree with a COTA degree from an accredited program recognized by Kansas. COTA degree from an accredited program recognized by Kansas Board of Healing Arts COTA- Current Kansas License. Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Kansas Department of Children and Families. Physical and Tuberculosis Clearance.Terms of employment: 186 days. Certified salary schedule. Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board of Education policy.
