Registered Nurse - MS Stroke Stepdown

Schedule: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, Night Shift, with floating required.

Job Description: The Registered Nurse will provide high-quality nursing care in the MS Stroke Stepdown Unit, managing patients with diverse medical needs such as stroke, altered mental status, respiratory illnesses, and more. The RN will work in a dynamic environment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and monitor patients recovering from strokes and other related conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Utilize specialty equipment including IV pumps, feeding tubes, and N/G tubes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, specifically EPIC.
• Perform assessments and provide appropriate interventions for a diverse patient population.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with a focus on Medical-Surgical and Stroke Stepdown.
• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications (NIHSS can be obtained prior to start).
• Documented travel experience required.
• NURSYS Report for license verification.

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.
