The SchedulerAssistsphysicians’ offices and patients in scheduling diagnostic and therapeuticservices to be performed by the hospital.Ensures that pre-certification and insurance verification are done in atimely manner and that pre-certification has been obtained prior to anyprocedure being performed that requires this.Communicates patient financial responsibility to the patient ORcommunicates the patient’s insurance benefits to the Financial Counselor sothat a proper quote of patient financial responsibility may be communicated tothe patient. Notifies insurancecompanies of patients’ inpatient admissions and communicates any insurance’srequest for clinical information to the Case Management department. Insurance verification information must beentered into the hospital’s information system and pre-registration packetsfiled promptly for reference by other staff and departments. All employees are to communicate in acustomer-friendly, professional manner to assist our patients, visitors andother customers. Every effort is made tohave scheduled procedures pre-admitted and notified of financial responsibility2 weeks in advance of their procedure. WORK HOURS: Mondaythru Friday 8:30AM-5PM. Note thatbecause the registration department is staffed twenty-four hours a day, sevendays a week, 365 days a year, Schedulers “may” be required to work someweekends and holidays, regardless of any established work schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

High School graduate or equivalent Background of medical terminology and priorhealth care experience desirable. Twoyears related experience in a health care facility preferred.

PRINCIPLE TASKS, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist physicians’ staff and patients with scheduling of procedures Ensures pre-certification is obtained prior to performance of procedures requiring such Creates pre-admitted charts for scheduled visits Communicates patient’s insurance benefits and financial responsibilities to patients and/or Financial Counselor Notifies insurances of patients’ admissions to obtain authorization of the admission and communicates any insurance company’s request for clinical information to the Case Management department Assistswith renaming, uploading, re-sorting, and organizing the RightFax system asneeded. Scheduling patients from these faxed orders as needed.
