Dental Assistant/ CSR/ Dental Admin (Temp Coverage)

Under general supervision of the Lead Dental Assistant and Dentist*, provides a range of clinical, administrative, and staff support to a full-range dental services operation. Assists in the performance of dental and radiography procedures; prepares and maintains dental equipment and supplies in accordance with established protocol and procedures, policies, standards, and assists in the coordination of day-to-day patient administration, records management, and office support activities.

MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

Temporary role, 5-month assignment Dental Assistant/CSR/Dental Admin Provides chair-side assistance to dentist in the performance of dental procedures. Provides high-level administrative and operational support to the Dental Director and Dental Team, including calendar management, correspondence, reporting, meeting coordination, onboarding, and departmental communications. Supports departmental efficiency and compliance by managing timecards, invoices, documentation, audits, data entry, and administrative processes, while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to address operational needs and ensure quality patient care. Prepares, sterilizes, and organizes dental supply and dental equipment according to OSHA and Clinic Standards. Maintain housekeeping records. Sets-up trays for procedures. Takes radiographs as directed by dentist (only assistants who have completed courses on radiation safety). Develops and processes dental radiographs in accordance with provider orders. Assists in the monitoring and maintenance of radiation safety procedures and protocols. Orders and maintains inventories of dental clinic supplies. Interacts with and processes dental clinic patients. Performs telephone triage and conducts patient interviews. Maintains dental laboratory slips. Creates and maintains dental records in accordance with established protocol and procedures. Assists in monthly reporting and quality improvement activities. Ensure a smooth patient flow by promptly checking in patients and communicating next steps with the patient and monitors dental patient flow. Checks patient eligibility and assists patients with enrollment into additional programs, depending upon program qualifications. Confirms and updates patient demographic information, insurance information and any additional required information in East Valley’s electronic management system. Takes payments and complies with EVCHC cash handling process as outlined by the Finance Department. Obtains required information from patients (i.e. photo I.D., insurance card, Medi-cal, Medicare, and/or Social Security card). Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Lead Dental Assistant.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Certificate from accredited dental assistant program, if certified Proof of completion of a board-approved 8-hour infection control course (Approved Infection Control Courses) Successful completion of California Board of Dental Examiners-approved radiation safety course 1-2 year's experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified Current BLS certification Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred. Current knowledge of and ability to follow a full range of dental clinical procedures and protocols.

DOE: $23.00 - $27.16
