We are looking for an enthusiastic Business Intelligence Engineer to add to our business development team. This position will report directly to the Senior Business Systems Manager.

About the Role

The Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, integrating diverse data sources, optimizing databases for performance, and creating front end client facing models that highlight process opportunities and operational insights. This role supports business intelligence and data governance while collaborating with multiple teams to deliver critical business performance understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

Business process and software

• Work directly with internal customers and Profile’s Senior Business Systems Manager to learn Profile’s key business processes, support our software platforms, and ensure the data captured is properly structured.
• Provide process guidance, customization, and troubleshooting support for Profile’s primary software platforms – with a focus on Sage 100 and Claris FileMaker.
• Support new process initiatives by advising on adherence to Profile’s data quality and governance standards.
• Assist in defining data requirements for systems that are in use, under development or planned for future development.

Business Intelligence and Data Visualization

• Design, build and maintain user-facing dashboards and reports that give business teams clear, accurate and actionable information.
• Lead the transition of Profile's existing Tableau dashboards and reports onto Profile's new Fabric backend.
• Work closely with analysts and business teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions that enable data-driven decision making.
• Ensure published data source and report structures are well organized and have accurate permissions.
• Support the ongoing evaluation of Profile's BI toolset, including our current use of Tableau and possible transition to Power BI.
• Maintain and evolve dashboard/report documentation (definitions, parameters, aggregation logic) to reduce single-point-of-failure risk in BI reporting.

Data pipeline development and modeling

• Own and continue the building out of Profile's Microsoft Fabric medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) designing scalable, reliable pipelines that move and transform data from source systems into the Fabric analytics hub.
• Lead the transition of data sourcing for existing reports and dashboards off legacy SQL Server/Snowflake/Mozart pipelines and onto a new Fabric-based architecture.
• Integrate datasets from internal and external sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility for business intelligence use cases.
• Design and implement data models for reporting, analytics, and operational systems that support business requirements, focusing on efficiency, accuracy and scalability.
• Create and implement automation techniques for data ingestion, cleaning, and transformation processes to reduce manual effort and improve data pipeline efficiency.

Data management and governance

• Assist in administering and optimizing relational and non-relational databases ensuring high availability, performance tuning, and storage optimization.
• Help establish and enforce data governance and data quality frameworks, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and security of data across the organization.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, infrastructure, data models, and transformations to ensure clear communication and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure data solutions comply with internal data privacy and security policies.

What We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• Experience with Tableau and/or Power BI data visualization tools.
• Intermediate to advanced understanding of SQL with the ability to write, optimize, and troubleshoot queries.
• Understanding of data modeling principles, including normalization, star schema, and medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) architecture.
• Proficiency with Python or a similar language for data manipulation and automation.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or a comparable modern cloud data platform (Azure Synapse, Snowflake, Databricks) with the ability to ramp quickly on Fabric specifically.
• Direct experience designing and building dashboards and reports in Tableau and/or Power BI.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug data issues independently.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and tools as needed.
• Demonstrated ability to document technical work clearly.
• Experience administering data/software platforms such as SQL Server, Snowflake, Mozart Data, Tableau Online/Cloud, Power BI Service, Salesforce, or similar is a plus.
