Police Officer

Serve as peace officer and first responder for the Lubbock Independent School District. The role requires a high school diploma, with a college degree being preferred. A valid peace officer license from the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement is mandatory. The candidate must be able to work day, evening, and night shifts with varied days off, understand law enforcement techniques, and have a genuine desire to work with children and adolescents. Sound physical fitness is also required.

Major responsibilities include enforcing board policies, protecting students, staff, and district property, serving as a law enforcement resource, securing crime scenes, conducting investigations, preparing reports, appearing in court, maintaining a law enforcement presence, patrolling properties, coordinating security for special events, responding to calls for service, and responding to civil disasters.

The position involves using district vehicles, firearms, weapons, handcuffs, alarm systems, security equipment, personal computers, and copiers. The job demands maintaining emotional control under stress, strenuous walking, standing, and climbing, operating a motor vehicle, specific hearing and visual requirements, controlling sudden violent acts, and working in adverse and hazardous conditions including violent confrontations, varying climates, driving at odd hours, and being on call 24 hours a day.
