Collections Specialist — Role Overview The Collections Specialist assists the Default Prevention and Recovery department by monitoring loans in default, supporting loan extensions, modifications, and foreclosures, and serving as a primary contact for members on payment arrangements. Primary Responsibilities Independently prioritize and execute daily collection activities, contacting members by telephone and email, timing documents, and maintaining collection notes. Monitor and document all legal cases, track documentation sent to collection attorneys, and perform follow‑up to ensure due diligence. Review and update tracking spreadsheets and delinquency reports, ensuring timely member billing and loan payment processing. Assist with loss mitigation activities, including loan extensions, modifications, and foreclosures. Maintain mortgage and consumer collection queues to ensure legal action and charge‑offs are performed accurately and on time. Follow procedures for account sweeps, member notifications, and collection notes, updating all member accounts within established timeframes. Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries timely, friendly, and professionally, documenting all correspondence in the Asset Recovery system. Compensation & Benefits Pay: $52,621–$56,000 annually ($25.30–$27.59/hr) depending on experience and qualifications.
