CNC Setup Machinist

CNC Setup Machinist Location: Seattle, Washington (Onsite) Compensation: $29- $39 Hourly Role Overview A CNC Setup Machinist is sought to perform advanced machine setups, write and modify CNC programs, and operate CNC machines to produce precisionmachined parts. The role involves setting up machines for production runs, optimizing programs, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring high-quality machined components. This position requires technical expertise, CNC programming skills, and the ability to work independently. Key Responsibilities Set up, load, and operate CNC machines according to job specifications. Perform complex machine setups for production runs and set up fixturing. Design custom fixtures for specialized machining operations. Write and modify CNC programs using G-code or CAM software. Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints. Optimize cutting parameters, feed rates, and tool paths to improve cycle times. Monitor machine operations to detect and address issues. Conduct quality checks and measurements to ensure parts meet required specifications. Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines. Provide guidance to CNC Operators on machine operation and troubleshooting. Required Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: 5+ years of CNC machine operation and programming experience (industry or technical college experience acceptable). Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of G-code and CAM software, ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T, experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, ability to set up fixturing and design custom fixtures. Preferred Qualifications 7+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment. Technical certification or associate degree in machining or related field. Advanced knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam or ESPRIT. Experience with multiple CNC machine types (mills, lathes, multi-axis). Knowledge of fixture design and tooling optimization. Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing training. Forklift certification.
