Position Summary
ThePharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist in delivering safe, accurate, andefficient pharmacy services to patients of Health Care Partners of SouthCarolina. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, thePharmacy Technician assists with prescription processing, medicationpreparation, inventory management, patient service, and administrative dutieswhile maintaining compliance with federal, state, and organizationalregulations. This position plays an important role in supporting patient accessto quality pharmaceutical care and promoting positive health outcomes.
EssentialDuties and Responsibilities
• Assistpharmacists with the preparation, packaging, labeling, and dispensing ofprescription medications in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Receive, enter,and process prescription orders accurately using the pharmacy managementsystem.
• Verify patientdemographic, insurance, and prescription information to ensure accuratemedication processing.
• Assist patientswith prescription refills, medication pick-up, billing inquiries, and generalpharmacy questions while providing exceptional customer service.
• Maintain accuratepatient records within the pharmacy management system and Electronic HealthRecord (EHR).
• Coordinate withproviders, nursing staff, insurance companies, and other healthcareprofessionals to facilitate timely prescription processing and resolveprescription-related issues.
• Monitormedication inventory, receive shipments, rotate stock, and assist withinventory control to maintain appropriate medication and supply levels.
• Identifymedications requiring replenishment and assist with ordering and inventorymanagement.
• Maintain a clean,organized, and safe pharmacy environment in accordance with state and federalregulations.
• Support qualityassurance activities and assist with medication recalls, audits, and regulatoryinspections.
• Maintain patientconfidentiality and protect health information in accordance with HIPAA andorganizational policies.
• Participate inrequired trainings, staff meetings, and continuing education activities.
• Travel betweenHealth Care Partners of South Carolina pharmacy locations as needed.
• Perform otherduties as assigned.
Education &Experience
• High schooldiploma or equivalent required.
• Current SouthCarolina Pharmacy Technician registration in good standing required.
• Minimum of two(2) years of pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• NationalCertified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification preferred.
• Experienceworking in a retail pharmacy, outpatient pharmacy, community health center, orFederally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) preferred.
• Experience usingpharmacy management software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systemspreferred.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge ofpharmacy operations, prescription processing, medication safety, and inventorymanagement.
• Knowledge ofapplicable federal and South Carolina pharmacy laws, regulations, and HIPAArequirements.
• Strong customerservice, communication, and interpersonal skills with a commitment to providingpatient-centered care.
• Strongorganizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks whilemaintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency inpharmacy management software, Microsoft Office, and Electronic Health Record(EHR) systems.
• Ability to workcollaboratively with pharmacists, providers, and healthcare team members whileexercising sound judgment and professionalism.
• Ability tomaintain the confidentiality, security, and integrity of patient information.
Physical Requirements
• Ability toperform the essential functions of the position in a pharmacy environment.
• Frequentstanding, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements throughoutthe workday.
• Ability to liftand move up to 25 pounds.
• Ability tocommunicate effectively in person and by telephone.
• Ability to workin an environment with exposure to medications and protected health informationwhile adhering to established safety and HIPAA standards.
