LVN Licensed Vocational Nurse

LVN Position Available

Star Nursing has urgent per diem needs for LVNs in San Diego, CA. Start date is ASAP with an assignment through the end of the year. Shift schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM5:00 PM. Openings: 1 LVN Contract Length: Full Time / Per Diem Specialty: Clinic Pay Rate (No Housing): $45/hr.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and accurately document employees vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, height, and weight
  • Administer vaccinations and immunizations according to provider orders, standing protocols, facility policies, and the LVN scope of practice
  • Review immunization histories and assist with identifying outstanding employee health requirements
  • Perform PPD or tuberculin skin testing, including placement, documentation, and reading within the required timeframe
  • Educate employees regarding PPD follow-up instructions and the importance of returning within the appropriate reading period
  • Perform vision screenings using department-approved equipment and procedures
  • Conduct respiratory mask fit testing after completing facility-provided training
  • Educate employees on the proper use, placement, removal, and seal checking of respiratory protection equipment
  • Assist with employee health clearance activities, pre-employment screenings, annual health requirements, and exposure-related follow-up
  • Review health questionnaires, screening forms, immunization records, and other occupational health documentation
  • Identify abnormal findings and promptly report or escalate concerns to the supervising RN, provider, or Employee Health team
  • Prepare vaccines, supplies, testing materials, examination areas, and equipment before scheduled employee appointments
  • Monitor employees for potential reactions following vaccination and respond according to established protocols
  • Maintain accurate documentation of vaccinations, PPD testing, vision screenings, mask fit testing, and other services in the electronic medical record
  • Provide employees with Vaccine Information Statements and other approved educational materials
  • Follow vaccine storage, handling, preparation, administration, and documentation requirements
  • Maintain infection-control practices, standard precautions, and employee-safety protocols
  • Ensure examination rooms and clinical work areas remain clean, organized, properly stocked, and ready for use
  • Protect employee health information and maintain confidentiality according to applicable privacy requirements
  • Coordinate with Employee Health staff, providers, managers, and other departments regarding employee clearance requirements
  • Assist with scheduling, follow-up communication, record completion, and other clinic workflow responsibilities
  • Travel to or work at the San Marcos location when required by the assignment
  • Perform other Employee Health LVN duties as assigned

Required Experience:

  • Ambulatory care or outpatient clinic experience
  • Epic EMR experience
  • Experience managing telephone or electronic patient messages is highly preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple patient messages and clinical priorities efficiently
  • Experience communicating with providers and escalating clinical concerns appropriately
  • Strong clinical documentation, telephone communication, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with Epic SmartPhrases, inbox workflows, or similar message-management tools is preferred

  • Copies of any certifications listed on the resume must be available upon request
