About the Position

Job Title: RN Oncology Infusion Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Adult Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8-12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Current RN License issued by the state or a current multistate compact RN License. Certifications: - Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association - ACLS (American Heart Association) - Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration - ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Must-Have: - Current chemotherapy certification with at least 1 year of chemotherapy experience required Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Administers oral and subcutaneous injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by the physician. Consults with other medical personnel and may provide expert information about chemotherapy, side effects, etc. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physician during conscious sedation procedures and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed and initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently and interacts with family and patient in sharing care plans while in the clinic, at discharge, and for continued care via phone triage. Informs patient and family of clinic procedures. Provides chemotherapy-related educational information to patients and families, answering inquiries and providing guidance as appropriate. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Schedules patient follow-up activities related to treatment and assists with coordination of care by obtaining referrals and completing phone calls with patients after clinic visits. Performs other duties as assigned.
