Nurse Practitioner Or Physician AssistantVirginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our office located in Norfolk.ResponsibilitiesAssess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for oncology patients in an outpatient settingInitiate and document appropriate interventionsEvaluate and record patient and family response within practice protocolPrescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultationAssess patient and family needs and provides educationPromotes/provides staff educationServe as a liaison between inpatient, skilled nursing, and home settingIncorporates evidence-based research into clinical practiceQualificationsMasters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant programTwo years of post Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant hematology/oncology experience is preferredExperience and knowledge in the management of the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatmentRN State License and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state, along with current state certification of Nurse Practitioner or current state license as a Physician AssistantCurrent CPR certification requiredMust be willing to travel to the various practice locationsPHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
