Pharmacy Technician

Overview This Pride Health posting describes a 14-week contract Pharmacy Technician role in Houston, TX. The pay range is $30.00/hr - $36.00/hr. Location Houston, TX Schedule Day shift 9:30 am - 6 pm (Mon-Fri) with a weekend rotation alternating every other weekend 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (Sat/Sun). Pay Pay Range: $30.00/hr - $36.00/hr. Start: 09/08/2025. Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials. Responsibilities Assist the pharmacist in the preparation, repackaging and compounding, filling, and delivery of medications, and other tasks associated with dispensing, for patients from 0 to adult. Assist in procurement, record keeping, storage, and distribution of all controlled substances. Ensure appropriateness of all medication doses by correctly entering the patient’s diagnosis, weight, allergies, and body surface area in the computer. Follow aseptic technique and infection control in the preparation of sterile products. Complete annual recertification and score at least 90% on the aseptic technique/infection control skills and written exam as documented by a qualified observer. Encourage others to practice aseptic technique and infection control. Ensure the medications prepared are correct, as verified by the pharmacist and documented to minimize dispensing errors. Inventory responsibilities: maintain stock, replenish Omnicells on nursing floors, rotate stock, remove soon-to-expire medications, restock OR anesthesia machines (including controlled substances); weekly repacking and compounding of medications. Qualifications Licensure/Certification: RPHT-TX - Registered Pharmacy Technician, TX State Board of Pharmacy, or PHAR INT - Pharmacy Intern, State Board of Pharmacy. Education: RPHT-TX - Reg Pharmacy Technician or PHAR INT - Pharmacy Intern, State Board of Pharmacy. Knowledge of current hospital and departmental standards for handling pharmaceuticals. Math, reading, and communication skills; ability to operate equipment used in the preparation of sterile products.
