Job Summary Provider Relations Representative – Program Specialist II at Dept of State Health Services, Region 9/10. This full‑time, non‑exempt position reports to Program Supervisor and works under general supervision. The role performs consultative services, technical assistance, training, and program assessment related to the Texas Health Steps (THS) program. Essential Job Functions Provider Support (45%) – Provide education, updates, and consultative services to existing and new medical, dental, and case management providers; conduct trainings; assist with interpreting program policies; collaborate with Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and Texas Medicaid (TMHP) on billing issues; and resolve provider issues. Program Support (25%) – Assist in compiling, analyzing, and reporting THS activities to meet regional program goals; update provider information annually; help with consumer complaints and corrective action plans. Trainings & Presentations (15%) – Contact enrolled medical and dental THS providers annually to provide technical assistance and on‑site training; identify training needs; maintain Vision & Hearing Trainer Certification; apply Medicaid policy knowledge. Community & Outreach Activities (10%) – Participate in community activities to promote THS; contact potential providers; collaborate with public health partners; attend regional and statewide THS meetings. Adherence to Policy & Other Duties (5%) – Support disaster response and COOP activation; maintain a valid Class C Texas driver’s license; complete required trainings; report time, labor, and travel; perform special assignments as directed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of Health & Human Service Medicaid programs, Managed Care, public health practices, and recommended medical/dental screenings. Skills in public speaking, oral and written communication, adult training methods, problem solving, policy interpretation, community collaboration, independent work, organization, prioritization, Microsoft Office. Ability to interpret and apply program policy, work in team settings, develop training materials, maintain effective relationships with internal and external clients. Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver’s license, or equivalent license from another state. Initial Screening Criteria Bachelor’s degree in human services, public health, education, social work, or related field. At least 2 years of experience in the Healthcare industry, providing training/technical assistance, coordinating community projects, using computer applications, and working with healthcare providers and external stakeholders.
