Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with experience in Medical Surgical to join our team. The position includes working with a diverse patient population and providing comprehensive care in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills / Certifications / Experience

Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
First-time travelers are welcome.
Experience in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, and Telemetry.
Skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
Proficient in telemetry monitoring.
Blood product administration and peripheral line care.
Starting and maintaining IVs.
Knowledge of Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) management.
Administration of oxygen via nasal cannula and oxygen tanks.
Adherence to isolation precautions and use of PPE.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Preferred Skills / Certifications / Experience

Experience with IV insulin protocols, Heparin, and insulin management.
Ability to manage cardiac drips (non-titration).
Experience in BiPAP/CPAP management and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC).
Non-invasive airway management and oral suctioning skills.
Wound care expertise, including Wound Vac management.
Community hospital experience preferred.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred.

Job Details

Target nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 to 1:6.
Night shifts, 3x12 hours, from 18:45 to 07:15.
36 hours available per week.
Contracts available for 13 weeks.
Requests for time off (RTO) will be reviewed for accommodation.
Floating to other units may be required.
Weekend shifts required every third week (8 shifts for 13-week contracts).

Patient Population

Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, diabetes, infectious diseases, rehabilitation needs, as well as typical medical/surgical and telemetry cases.

Unit Details

Average daily census of 8 patients; unit has 12 beds.
Utilizes manual dispense carts and paper documentation with SBAR communication.
Self-scheduling type.

Orientation and Scrubs

Orientation lasts 24-36 hours.
Hospital orientation during the first week; attendance in daily classes is required.
Scrubs are navy blue.
