GIS Specialist

Assistant Gis SpecialistImmediate need for a talented Assistant GIS Specialist. This is a 12+months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Akron, OH (Onsite).The Assistant GIS Specialist supports the development, maintenance, analysis, and management of GIS data for various projects and professional services. This role assists with GIS analysis, data preparation, and database maintenance while collaborating with cross-functional teams and clients to ensure project objectives are met. The position requires strong communication, customer service, teamwork, and a commitment to delivering high-quality GIS solutions and continuous improvement.Assist with GIS analysis, data development, data collection, and mapping for client projects while supporting both internal and external project teams. Assist with GIS metadata creation, digital feature extraction, land survey record searches, and ownership data research from a variety of sources. Assist with coordinate system projections and geospatial data transformations for project deliverables. Assist in creating and updating GIS maps, map layers, and geospatial databases. Assist with georeferencing raster and vector datasets. Support ad-hoc analyses and provide recommendations to help achieve business goals related to quality, billability, and utilization. Assist with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of GIS deliverables to ensure compliance with client and project requirements. Utilize software applications and information from various sources to develop GIS maps supporting field personnel and client deliverables. Regularly communicate project status with project teams and clients to support successful project execution. Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies. Perform other duties as assigned.Must have minimum 1 years' experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), and geospatial data management. Hands on experience with GIS analysis, mapping, data collection, database maintenance, and geospatial data preparation for engineering and consulting projects e.g. Energy Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Electric Utility Preferred. Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field. A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience. GIS Professional (GISP) certification or an ESRI technical certification is preferred but not required. Ability to work independently while demonstrating accuracy, reliability, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment with demonstrated critical thinking skills. Basic proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), and Microsoft Office applications. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Prior internship and/or related consulting experience is preferred. Minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred. Travel required: Approximately 5%. Business travel expenses are reimbursable in accordance with company policy.
