Requisition No: 864947 Agency: Agency for Health Care Administration Working Title: 68064655 – FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST The Bureau of Field Operations is responsible for the survey and certification process of health care facilities across the State of Florida. Work You Will Do The primary function of the Fire Protection Specialist is to provide life safety inspection expertise for the licensure and certification of health care facilities. Perform on-site surveys, document findings, and prepare reports. Provide independent specialized work on all aspects of fire safety, fire prevention and other areas of life safety. Understand and enforce national, state, and local fire safety NFPA codes and laws. Conduct surveys of other types of licensed providers, as assigned by management. Be proficient with computer equipment and software programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and smart‑phone technology. Be available to work before and after normal work hours, including weekends and holidays; may be required to work during disasters and emergencies. Qualifications Fire Safety Inspector I Certification pursuant to Chapter 633.261, F.S. and Chapter 69A‑39, F.A.C. Two (2) years of professional or paraprofessional experience in fire prevention, fire protection systems installations, or other construction inspection‑related experience. Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field. Successfully complete Basic Life Safety training within six (6) months of hire. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements Fire Safety Inspector I Certificate of Compliance in accordance with Chapter 633.261, F.S. and Chapter 69A‑39, F.A.C. Ability to utilize microcomputer equipment and software to enter, retrieve, and manipulate data required for licensure and certification functions. Ability to travel as necessary with or without accommodation. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis (e.g., laptop computers, manuals, ladders) with or without accommodation. Ability to climb ladders to inspect smoke/fire walls and roof‑mounted equipment. Ability to stand and walk for long periods while performing surveys. Knowledge of the methods, techniques, and equipment used in fire safety prevention. Ability to conduct fire inspections for fire safety and prevention.
