Position Overview:
Will have a caseload of 10 participants ages 14-18. Career Coach will Facilitate groups, preferably Restorative Justice circles. The Career Coach would run a Career Club for participants in the Advanced stage once a week. Career Clun meetings will cover work-related topics such as, career planning, goal setting, resume building, interviewing, and conflict resolution. The Career Coach would be responsible for assisting the Program Manager in developing and securing Project and Internship sites for participants. Career Coach will meet with participants 1:1 to go over program performance. Career Coach will go over score cards with youth on a daily basis that address Attendance, Preparedness, Performance, Attitude, and Participation. Career Coach will oversee a Work Team at Project sites. Career Coach will work 10 hours per week including some weekdays and Saturdays. Career Coach would oversee participants that are in the Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Summer stages of the program. Career Coach will work in collaboration with the ECHOES Probation Officer. The goals of the program are to engage participants in transformational relationships that enable them to remain in their schools and communities while they improve the educational, employment, and social/emotional competencies needed to lead law-abiding lives. The purpose of the program is to reduce recidivism within the criminal justice system.
Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or HSE. Minimum 2-3 year experience working with at-risk youth. Ability to develop and secure Project and Internship sites for participants. Ability to facilitate Job Readiness Workshops for youth. Demonstrate initiative and creativity, particularly with adolescents. Demonstrate knowledge of Evidence-based practice. Demonstrate experience in group work. Ability to work some weekdays and Saturdays. Demonstrate understanding of the issues of the local Manhattan (Harlem) community. Demonstrate understanding of the issues facing Black and Latino adolescents. Ability to work as a team member and independently Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with youth and staff. Demonstrate ability to effectively use a multi-cultural approach in working with special needs youth. Excellent oral communication skills. Demonstrate knowledge in juvenile justice system. Demonstrate knowledge in Anti-Gun violence. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
