Orderly - Surgical Center Patient Care Assistant – Per Diem

Location: Associates Ambulatory Surgery Center | West Mifflin, PA
Specialty: Ophthalmology / Outpatient Surgery
Schedule: Per Diem | 8-hour shifts scheduled between 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Spectrum Vision Partners is seeking a dependable, patient-focused Surgical Center Patient Care Assistant to support our ophthalmology ambulatory surgery center in West Mifflin.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous experience in a hospital, ambulatory surgery center, medical office, patient transport, nursing support, or other healthcare setting who enjoys staying active, helping patients, and working alongside nurses and surgical staff.

Experience as a CNA, Patient Care Technician (PCT), Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Patient Transporter, OR Aide, or similar healthcare support role is especially relevant.

What You'll Do

As part of the surgical center team, you'll help keep patients safe, comfortable, and moving efficiently through their surgical experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Safely transport patients between pre-op, the operating room, recovery, and discharge
• Assist patients with wheelchair transportation and escort them to their vehicle following discharge
• Support nurses and clinical staff with patient flow and non-clinical patient care needs
• Assist with safe patient positioning and transfers using proper body mechanics
• Prepare, clean, and reset operating rooms between surgical procedures
• Assist with setup of OR equipment, including foot pedals, scopes, and other surgical equipment
• Clean and sanitize patient care and procedural areas in accordance with infection prevention standards
• Stock linens, supplies, and other materials throughout the surgery center
• Assist with inventory and materials management
• Observe patients while assisting with transport and promptly communicate any concerns or changes to nursing staff
• Properly dispose of waste and maintain clean, safe patient care areas
• Follow established infection control, safety, sterile technique, and patient privacy protocols
• Work collaboratively with nurses, surgical staff, and other members of the care team

What We're Looking For

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous experience working in a healthcare, medical, hospital, ambulatory surgery, or patient care environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to provide compassionate and professional support to patients
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Dependable, flexible, and comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Ability to safely assist with patient transport, positioning, and mobility

A Plus, But Not Required

• Previous experience as a CNA, PCT, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Patient Transporter, OR Aide, Surgical Services Assistant, or similar healthcare support position
• Previous hospital or ambulatory surgery center experience
• BLS/BCLS certification
• Familiarity with infection prevention and sterile technique
• Experience supporting operating room turnover or procedural areas
• Ophthalmology or surgical patient care experience
