Provides routine and complex care with the ability to plan for long-range goals. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage clinical contingencies. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to manage clinical situations. Meets expectations of applicable competencies. Consistent with the scope and standards of practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Using appropriate protocols, administers medications and treatments, and monitors for side effects and effectiveness of the prescribed treatments. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers. Identifies issues and resources as needed.
