Key Responsibilities Collaborate with providers and medical assistants on patient care, organization, and communication. Use professional judgment to deliver imaging services, applying X‑ray technology for patients of all ages. Perform medical‑assistant duties under a provider after training. Daily Experience Teleradiology reads all imaging. Work varies daily. No fluoroscopy studies, operating room cases, unit portables, on‑call or overnight shifts. Job Summary The Radiologic Technologist works with medical providers and/or medical assistants to examine and treat patients at UPMC‑GoHealth Urgent Care. Responsibilities include performing and analyzing patient X‑rays, reporting results, and providing administrative support to ensure efficient operations. Requirements Education High School Diploma mandatory. Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program mandatory. Work Experience Experience in a clinical setting preferred. Licenses & Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required. State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required (if applicable). Essential Functions Provide X‑ray services as needed under clinical provider direction. Position patients appropriately and protect them during imaging. Assist patients in wheelchairs when necessary. Patient Preparation & Rooming Inform technical staff of patient flow. Prepare patients for examination; conduct interviews; record medical history; verify purpose of visit. Perform preliminary vital sign tests and elevate critical cases to provider. Conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG). Administrative Duties Maintain medical records; scan charts to patient files. Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up. Perform daily equipment controls, calibration, QA/QC logs, preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets. Other Responsibilities Collaborate with ordering/treating provider to determine needed procedures or views. Explain procedures to patients; ensure comfort and safety. Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging. Select proper ionizing factors and adjust radiographic controls for clear diagnostic images. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of X‑ray equipment; manage supplies. Adhere to radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation. Knowledge Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, body mechanics, and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment, safety hazards, and maintenance. Skills Position patients properly for X‑ray procedures.
