Cloud Architect

Cloud Architect (Infrastructure / Multi-Cloud) Location: Houston, TX Position Overview Our client is seeking a hands‑on Cloud Architect to join their Corporate IT Infrastructure & Design team. This person will be joining an established architecture team responsible for designing, deploying, and enabling cloud infrastructure across a primarily Azure‑based multi‑cloud environment. This is not an Enterprise Architecture or strategy‑only position. The ideal candidate enjoys both architecture and implementation and can independently take ownership of technical initiatives from design through deployment. The architect will work alongside senior cloud architects but will operate autonomously, owning assigned initiatives and delivering cloud solutions that support modernized enterprise applications. Business Objectives The team is modernizing enterprise infrastructure by: Enabling cloud services across a multi‑cloud environment Supporting application modernization initiatives Migrating workloads from traditional infrastructure to cloud‑native services Building secure cloud platforms for application teams Standardizing cloud governance and security Approximately 95% of the environment is Azure, with limited AWS, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud. Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Design and implement Azure infrastructure solutions Deploy cloud infrastructure supporting modern applications Help application teams migrate workloads to cloud platforms Build and maintain cloud landing zones Implement cloud governance and security controls Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform or Bicep Configure networking, identity, and authentication services Support CI/CD automation Evaluate new Azure services and AI capabilities Perform hands‑on implementation (hands to keyboard) Collaborate with senior architects while independently owning assigned work Required Experience 8+ years of overall IT experience 3–5+ years designing and implementing cloud infrastructure Strong Microsoft Azure experience (primary requirement) Exposure to AWS (GCP is a plus) Strong infrastructure background Networking expertise Cloud architecture and migration experience Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep preferred) Scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash) CI/CD experience Experience supporting cloud governance and security Preferred Experience Kubernetes Containers Azure AI Foundry Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Zero Trust security Enterprise cloud governance FinOps / cloud cost optimization Monitoring and observability Hybrid cloud environments Ideal Background The hiring manager indicated candidates commonly come from backgrounds such as: Cloud Engineer Senior Systems Engineer Infrastructure Engineer DevOps Engineer Azure Solutions Architect Systems Administrator progressing into cloud architecture #J-18808-Ljbffr
