Adjunct RN (Med/Surg) Clinical Instructor

Job Description Success Education Colleges (SEC) seeks experienced adjunct instructors to teach RN students across multiple disciplines. Faculty must be Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) approved, incorporate Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring, and integrate QSEN principles into all courses to develop a culture of safety from beginning to advanced levels. Responsibilities Direct Patient Care Provide reliable, evidence‑based nursing care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Identify and prioritize nursing needs, conduct holistic assessments, and design care plans. Develop and evaluate educational programs for patients, families, and groups. Document interventions, analyze data, and assess impact on resources. Nursing Practice & Policy Assist in resolving patient care issues, create and revise policies, and address barriers impacting outcomes. Lead clinical practice and quality improvement initiatives. Support staff development of critical thinking, reflective practice, and shared decision‑making. Evaluation of Clinicals Practice Conduct audits of student performance, staff activity, and patient charts. Plan remedial learning activities and report outcomes to managers and the Education Department. Interpersonal & Coaching Skills Offer direction and assistance courteously, respond to complaints, and demonstrate caring through verbal and non‑verbal communication. Observe and coach student performance, help identify learning needs, and facilitate professional development. Use advanced communication techniques to support clinical education. Collaboration Work with multidisciplinary teams to enhance education programs and promote patient safety. Establish collaborative relationships to support culturally competent care and clinical excellence. Consultation & Research Conduct needs assessments, develop specialized protocols, and analyze research findings for clinical application. Mentor staff on research fundamentals and promote nursing publications. Organization & Systems Leadership Consult cross‑unit leaders to improve care processes and adopt evidence‑based practices. Design and evaluate programs aligned with institutional strategic plans and regulatory requirements. Professional Conduct Maintain licensure, certification, and adherence to attendance, dress code, and safety policies. Safety in the Environment of Care Participate in mock safety events, code drills, and infection control practices. Ensure a clean, safe work environment and support hospital safety programs. Information Management & Risk Safeguard patient confidentiality, manage passwords, and comply with documentation policies. Identify and report risk management incidents and contribute to resolution. Faculty‑Specific Duties Teach RN students, weave Watson’s Theory of Caring, and integrate QSEN across the curriculum. Serve as a catalyst for students to apply the ten Carative Factors in clinical practice. Join discussion groups on Watson’s theory and share scholarly articles. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse license in California. Minimum of 1 year of continuous, full‑time RN experience in the designated area (or equivalent clinical teaching experience). Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field for Assistant Instructor or Clinical Teaching Assistant roles. Master’s degree in Nursing for Instructor level (with a clinical focus and didactic training). BLS required; ACLS & PALS as needed by unit. Certification in clinical specialty preferred. Demonstrated leadership, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills. Strong customer service, teamwork, and computer skills; fluent English in speaking, reading, and writing. Ability to work with minimal supervision and adjust schedules to meet patient and staff needs. Additional Requirements Faculty must be approved by the BRN and meet content‑expert or instructor criteria as defined by SEC. Participation in ongoing professional development, including use of independent learning tools and action planning.
