Design Engineer

Starting pay for market: $60,000-65,000/year

As a design engineer at Snap-on Equipment, you will be responsible for designing and developing automotive alignment & ADAS products. This will include quality improvements (rapid continuous improvements) to existing products.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical design and development of new products or product enhancements for the automotive equipment and industrial tools industry. Must be able to perform in a team environment with engineers from other disciplines and nationalities.
• Prepare thorough and accurate documentation for release to manufacturing and for internal product design records. Maintain an engineering notebook to document work activity in support of company's patent goals.
• Test and validate products to assure product performance and quality.
• Work with manufacturing and service personnel to resolve problems and improve manufacturability and serviceability of products.
• Develop or modify manufacturing processes.
• Work with other groups on value engineering initiatives to reduce product cost and/or improve performance of designs.
• Develop an understanding of the company's products and their applications.
• Provide administrative support for Engineering Computer systems.
• Work with outside approval agencies on initial product approvals and maintenance of existing files

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Mathematics, with a preference for 2 years' experience in a design engineering environment
• Must be proficient in the use of the computer for design and testing. Creo experience is preferred.
• Up-to-date knowledge in mechanical design
• Basic understanding of complementary technical disciplines, particularly electronics
• Able to work with others and with minimal supervision.
• Must possess excellent communication skills.
• Must possess good time management and organizational skills.
• Must possess good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Must be able to demonstrate initiative.
• Must have practical experience in manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Project management and customer interface experience is a plus.
• Experience with outside approval agencies (UL/CSA/ALI etc.)
