POSITION SUMMARY

The Infrastructure Engineer II is responsible for implementing, supporting, maintaining, and continuously improving enterprise infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. This position serves as a key technical resource for networking, server, cloud, storage, identity, and operational technologies while contributing to infrastructure projects, security initiatives, system optimization, and continuous improvement efforts. The role works closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and IT teams to deliver secure, reliable, scalable, and supportable technology solutions that enable business success.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES   

• Implement, support, maintain, and optimize enterprise infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. 
• Support infrastructure platforms including networking, servers, virtualization, operating systems, storage, collaboration technologies, monitoring systems, and cloud services. 
• Support and maintain cloud and hybrid infrastructure services, including identity, networking, storage, backup, recovery, and monitoring solutions. 
• Assist with ensuring high availability, performance, resiliency, and operational effectiveness of business-critical systems. 
• Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, availability, and performance, identifying issues and opportunities for improvement. 
• Participate in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, deployments, and technical projects while coordinating with internal stakeholders, vendors, and service providers. 
• Collaborate with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams to support business requirements and technology initiatives. 
• Implement and support enhancements to infrastructure platforms, cloud services, automation solutions, and enterprise technology systems. 
• Assist with implementing infrastructure security controls, vulnerability remediation, patch management, access management, and system hardening activities. 
• Support backup and recovery operations, disaster recovery exercises, security reviews, and operational resiliency initiatives. 
• Develop and maintain scripts, automation, and process improvements that increase efficiency, consistency, and reliability. 
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and serve as an escalation point for operational support activities. 
• Perform operational analysis and provide recommendations to improve system reliability, performance, supportability, and overall business value. 
• Partner with vendors, service providers, and contractors to support infrastructure-related products and services. 
• Create and maintain technical documentation, system configurations, operational procedures, support records, and technical diagrams. 
• Perform technical validation, testing, and user acceptance activities for new and updated systems. 
• Assist with user training and knowledge transfer activities when appropriate. 
• Stay current with emerging technologies, cybersecurity best practices, and industry trends. 
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

Required Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure technologies in a business environment. 
• Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, operating systems, networking, virtualization platforms, or cloud services. 
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. 
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. 
• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Microsoft Azure or another major cloud platform. 
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID. 
• Experience with virtualization technologies, enterprise networking, and infrastructure monitoring tools. 
• Experience participating in infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations, or system implementations. 
• Experience supporting backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes. 
• Familiarity with automation, scripting, or configuration-management tools. 
• Experience supporting cybersecurity controls and operational security practices. 

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. 
• Typically 3–5 years of progressive experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, systems administration, networking, cloud services, or related technologies. 
• Experience supporting and maintaining infrastructure across server, network, virtualization, endpoint, and cloud environments. 
• Working knowledge of infrastructure implementation, technical planning, cybersecurity principles, and technology lifecycle management. 
• Experience participating in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, deployments, or technical projects. 
• Understanding of identity and access management, vulnerability remediation, patch management, backup, disaster recovery, and operational security practices. 
• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, operational procedures, and support records. 
• Familiarity with scripting, automation, or configuration-management tools such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, or similar technologies. 
• Experience collaborating with vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to support technology solutions. 
• Hands-on experience in one or more infrastructure domains, including networking, compute, virtualization, operating systems, identity, collaboration, monitoring, backup and recovery, or cloud services. 
• Experience with a representative combination of technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Meraki, Cisco, SQL Server, SolarWinds, or comparable enterprise platforms. 
• Candidates are not expected to have experience with every technology listed. 

Certifications

• Microsoft Azure Fundamentals 
• Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate 
• AWS Cloud Practitioner 
• CompTIA Security+ 
• CompTIA Network+ 
• ITIL Foundation 
• Relevant certifications are valued but not required. Equivalent practical experience is welcome.
