Maintenance CarpenterWage/Hour Status: Non-ExemptReports To: Construction SupervisorPay Grade: Auxiliary Salary SchedulePay Grade 05Dept./School: Physical Plant OperationsPre-screening may be conducted by an approved medical vendor prior to starting employmentQualifications:Education/Certification: 8th grade or higherExperience: Three years of carpentry, plumbing, electrical and minor maintenance experience.Basic knowledge of building codes and regulations. Occupational health and safety standards.Use and care of hand and power tools.Major Responsibilities and Duties:Work under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and Physical Plant Operations Assistant Director.Assist with the completion of repairs and assigned projects as needed.Practice good safety at all times in accordance to the District's policy.Report any hazards to the immediate supervisor.Procure supplies, materials and equipment for each assigned work order.Use and secure district equipment and district vehiclesCommunicate with District staff in a pleasant and professional manner.Adhere to all district rules and regulations as per district policy.Complete work orders, and submit them back to the Physical Plant Operation office.Ability to understand verbal instructions; ability to communicate effectively (verbally and some written). Physical Demands/EnvironmentalWorking Conditions:Perform other duties as assigned. Within the week, and advice supervisor upon completion.Ability to stand, walk, talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle or feel, push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms and taste or smell (67 to 99% of the work day).Able to sit (0 to 33% of the work day).Occasionally (0 to 33% of the work day) lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 100lbs.Special vision requirements include: 20/20 (corrected), ability to identify and distinguish colors. Be able to adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus, judge distances and spatial relationships and observe an area peripherally.Work environment; exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, wet humid conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation and work with some form of vibration (67 to 99% of the work day), work with explosives (0 to 33% of the work day).The typical noise level for the work environment is moderate noise.Hearing requirements include: ability to hear alarms on equipment, client calls and Instructional from department staff.Repetitive motion actions include: use of foot control, both feet (7+ hrs. of the work day), use of hands, both hands (7+ hrs. of the work day), grasping simple/light objects (7+ hrs. of the work day), grasping firm/heavy objects (7+ hrs. of the work day).POSITION WORKING DAYS: 244 Days
