Housekeeping Supervisor

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not intended to be a complete list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.

SUMMARY

Supervises the housekeeping services at facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Recruits, hires, provides orientation/training, and retains a sufficient number of qualified staff to carry out the responsibilities of the housekeeping functions. Ensures employee performance meets or exceeds expectations and periodic performance appraisals are conducted on a timely basis.

• Ensuring resident rooms, bathrooms and common areas daily are cleaned (dusted, dry mopped, wet mopped, sanitized, scrubbed) according to facility procedures.

• Overseeing the cleaning of walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, and waxing of floors according to department procedures and cleaning schedules.

• Ensuring housekeeping supplies are kept out of reach of residents at all times.

• Supervising the disposal of trash and waste, including bio-hazardous waste and other materials that require special handling, only in accordance with facility policies and procedures.

• May occasionally perform the above housekeeping duties in cases of emergency or staffing shortages.

  ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Minimum of one (1) year housekeeping and / or laundry experience in an institutional setting.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises the Housekeeping staff, Laundry staff, Floor Techs and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible. Completes annual evaluations for potential merit increases for direct reports.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT

Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, talk and hear. May occasionally lift or move items of up to 50 pounds. Employee is occasionally exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. In compliance with applicable law, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Laundry Supervisor

· Takes appropriate actions to secure laundry chemicals and supplies out of reach

of residents at all times.

· Oversees the cleaning of the personal clothing items of residents / patients and

ensures the prompt and accurate return of those items.

· Ensures the proper disposal of laundry chemicals in accordance with applicable

policies and regulations.

· Routinely performs the above or other laundry duties for the facility.
