Role Description This part-time, on-site Veterinarian role is based at Perky Paws Pet Hospital in McKinney, TX. The Veterinarian will provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventive care for small animals, including conducting examinations, diagnosing conditions, developing treatment plans, and performing routine and advanced procedures. Daily responsibilities include reviewing medical histories, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and documenting care in medical records. The role also involves educating clients on treatment options, preventive care, nutrition, and behavior, while maintaining clear, empathetic communication. The Veterinarian will collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff, contribute to hospital protocols, and participate in ongoing professional development and research-related initiatives as appropriate. Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution and an active, unrestricted Texas veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain one). Demonstrated proficiency in small-animal clinical care, including physical examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and routine surgical and dental procedures. Ability to interpret diagnostic tests such as bloodwork, urinalysis, radiographs, and other imaging, with strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills. Strong client communication abilities, including explaining medical conditions and treatment options in accessible terms and providing clear preventive care guidance. Collaborative work style, with the ability to supervise and partner with veterinary technicians and support staff in a fast-paced clinical environment. Commitment to evidence-based medicine, continuous learning, and participation in research or quality-improvement activities when needed. Comfort with medical record-keeping systems and basic digital tools; attention to detail and adherence to regulatory and ethical standards.
