ABOUT US

That's My Jam is owned by Chef Mark Sethi & Nadia Wit. Mark lost his leg and without insurance he left cooking and began a career in prosethics to pay for his own leg eventually bringing the couple to a prosthetic company at 324 Divisadero. When the company moved to a different location the owner of the building asked what Mark thought he should do with the space, he suggested a restaurant and Mark and Nadia built That's My Jam. While Mark's passion is cooking in the kitchen, Nadia has dreamed a coffee shop since the she was a teen in the 90s. Together the couple strive and  pride themselves on creating delicious, sustainable & beautiful quality food & drinks but without a pretentious attitude.  At That's My Jam you will eat and drink Michelin quality ingredients in a fun and whimsical atmosphere. Nadia believes laughter is the shortest distance between two people so a sense of humor is a serious requirement.

POSITION SUMMARY

At That's My Jam, we're looking for a team member who brings a passion for coffee,

community, and collaboration. As a small team, everyone works together to keep things

running smoothly. This role goes beyond making coffee — it includes your basic tasks like opening & closing, managing inventory, and supporting your teammates who may ask you to take orders, run food or bus a table. We value flexibility and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed. Regardless of your past experience, this role will ask you to step outside your comfort zone at times — working in positions that feel challenging until you build the skills to thrive in them. As we continue to grow, there will be opportunities to take on more responsibility and grow with us. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

● Greet customers, answer questions regarding all ingredients of both food and drinks, take orders on, ring up orders, communicate orders.

● Make drinks efficiently and to quality standards.

● Open and close the shop, following provided checklists.

● Ensuring the espresso machine is running smoothly with test shots and an understanding of how to adjust espresso shots and measure correctly using provided scale

● Report inventory needs. 

● Organize incoming deliveries (coffee, milk, paper goods, etc.).

● Communicate effectively with team members to keep operations running smoothly.

● Provide and respond to feedback in a constructive way.

REQUIRED SKILLS

● Latte Art

● Detail-oriented with strong attention to quality, customer experience, and thorough 

● Timeliness and time management: able to arrive on time, avoid scheduling conflicts,

and prioritize tasks.

● Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

● Multitasking: managing multiple tasks during peak hours.

● Problem-solving skills to handle challenges efficiently.

● Adaptability to changing priorities and growing responsibilities.

EXPECTATIONS

● Availability for shifts 3 days per week Fri- Sunday from 8:30-3:30 -- The right candidate may be able to grow the latte program to include more weekdays. 

● One-year commitment to the role.

● Learn and follow our systems and workflows, which may differ from other

shops you've worked in.

● Long hours on your feet with significant physical labor, adhering to California Labor Law

for breaks throughout the shift.

● Ability to commit to shifts several months in advance.

● A desire to build genuine relationships with customers and care about their experience.

● Receptive to feedback with a growth-oriented mindset.

● Ability to work well with others. 

COMPENSATION

● Starting at $20per hour, plus tips.Tips are split evenly so you will benefit from our high ticket brunch customers (not just coffee orders) . 

● Pay increases are given based on your ability to grow the business with your efficiency, dedication, social media, creativity and hard work.  . 

● Meals of choice prepared by chefs for you-- we encourage trying everything on the menu so that you understand every ingredient. You are welcome to drink whatever you like from our non-alcoholic drink menu as long as we have stock for customers.

● Selected candidates will be invited for an in-person interview. 

● Final candidates will be asked to complete a paid trial shift.
