Machine Operator
Location: Houston, Tx 77013
Shift: Mon thru Fri; 6am -3:30pm
Pay Rate: $17 - $18.50 DOE

Job Overview
This role involves observing the material going through the conveyor hammermill machine. Sort out material any bad cases and other debris such as small stones, paper, or other contaminants. 

Responsibilities and Duties

• Operator turns the hammermill on before starting shift.
• Monitor machine is working properly and smoothly.
• Keep track of order numbers for contaminants by using the PO provided by the dust room worker or production worker.
• Remove live ammo and other contaminants that are not brass.
• The person working with the hammermill ensures material is inspected to separate the good brass from the trash.
• The operator must set the timer to manage how much load goes into the Gaylor Box
• Small box set timer to 20 minutes and for large box set the timer for 30 minutes.
• Monitor the brass with the crushed brass is not overloaded.
• Once the box is at capacity, prepare the box for forklift driver.
• Open the blinds so the forklift driver can enter the area and pick up the full box and place an empty box (repeat process).
• The operator must stop about 30 minutes before shift ends and begin cleaning the work area, the machine, and organizing the area for the next day.
• Organize the contaminants with the appropriate PO on form provided.
• Ensure product meets quality standards
• Collaborate with other warehouse staff to ensure efficient workflow and order fulfillment.
• Maintains general order and cleanliness of area, including removal of trash, as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

• Work is performed while standing, sitting, and walking.
• Requires bending, squatting, and reaching.
• Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, cold, and hot environment.
• Personal Protective Equipment required: respirator, hearing protection, coverall, head cover, gloves, steel-toed shoes.
• Push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
