Job Title: Travel RN - CVPICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: Cardiac Critical Care experience greater than 2 years Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role Description: This position is for a travel RN in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The unit consists of 10 beds. There is a staff ratio of 1 Charge RN and an RN to staff volume of 1:2 nurse-patient ratios for critical care during the day shift. Night shift also has 1 Charge RN and an RN to staff volume with the same 1:2 ratio. The typical equipment used includes Phillips monitors, Medfusion and Baxter pumps. The electronic medical record system in use is Meditech. Candidates are preferred to have experience with Peritoneal dialysis, CRRT, and ECMO bedside. Typical procedures performed include post-op care, management of continuous infusions, IVF, chest tube management, and care of the post-sternotomy/open chest patient. Moderate sedation is also part of the responsibilities. The ideal candidate should be flexible and love to resource and teach. Organizational skills and good communication are important. The work schedule typically includes 4 shifts over a 4-week period. This contract offers the opportunity to serve a congenital cardiac population and work with a highly experienced team. The RN team averages 10 years of nursing experience with a high engagement and safety culture score. The unit is committed to evidence-based practice, prevention, and quality metrics for patient care. The equipment utilized includes centrimag, prismax, and arctic sun for supporting complex patients. Being part of this team means working alongside board-certified pediatric/congenital heart intensivists striving to provide compassionate critical care. The RNs work together with the intensivist and interdisciplinary team to support patients and their families throughout their congenital heart journey.
