Required Qualifications Bachelors degree from an accredited institution 2+ years of full-time experience in a professional setting Experience planning and facilitating training for staff Knowledge of teaching and tutoring skills. Knowledge of learning assistance center programs, services, and recent trends. Interest in and knowledge of current research, modes of teaching & tutoring. Knowledge of education as a field: History & philosophy of the field; current state and national organizations; current websites, list-serves, training materials, research journals, etc.. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of experience in a related academic or academic support position(s) Full‑time experience in which a significant percentage of time was dedicated to teaching or other forms of instruction (training, teaching, workshop facilitation, tutoring, etc.) Full‑time professional experience working in a learning assistance center Familiarity with the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) guidelines. Graduate degree in education or related discipline Certification from a national organization (CRLA, NTA, ICLCA, etc.) Job Description Responsible for advising and promoting activities and providing leadership opportunities for Texas State students and the campus community. Job Duties Develop content, policies, and procedures for campus‑wide tutor training that satisfies College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certification requirements – Levels I‑III. Develop curriculum for online and in‑person training for campus learning centers and other partnering units. Develop, implement, and maintain assessment and evaluation methods for peer leader training practices. Develop a winter or summer institute or other professional development series designed to train graduate assistants, instructional assistants, etc., in preparation for their work teaching or tutoring in their discipline. Coordinate all logistical aspects of SLAC’s year‑round training practices. Coordinate with campus and Round Rock partners to ensure adequate spaces and other arrangements for delivery of training. Coordinate and administer all SLAC micro credentials. Develop an academically focused workshop series for undergraduates wanting to strengthen their study skills and behaviors. Serve as Co‑Chair of committees charged with submission of CRLA certification or re‑certification and Supplemental Instruction accreditation or re‑accreditation materials as needed. Function as a member of the SLAC professional staff team by attending staff meetings, making referrals to appropriate campus resources, and promoting SLAC by speaking to classes, student organizations, and faculty/staff about SLAC services and strategies for academic success.
