Seasonal Forest & Park Supervisor I Job ID: 260004B8 — 90‑day seasonal position (Summer2026) – Chester/Blandford, MA. Start Date: As soon as possible. End Date: September7,2026. Hours: 40 per week. Position: 1 opening. Job Purpose Supervise the maintenance and use of assigned recreational areas, including inspection, patrol, permitting, record‑keeping, program facilitation, equipment operation, volunteer coordination, and liaison activities with federal, state and municipal partners. Responsibilities Supervise maintenance of recreational areas, grounds, buildings, equipment and removal of hazardous trees or limbs. Inspect state‑operated forests and parks to determine suitability, safety compliance and maintenance needs. Patrol recreational areas to maintain security and enforce applicable rules. Check buildings daily for condition and compliance. Issue permits, collect usage fees, and monitor use of recreational facilities. Maintain records and prepare reports on work performed, providing recommendations. Assist in planning and administering recreational and cultural programs for visitors. Coordinate volunteer and court‑referenced individual activities. Determine supply needs and operate routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles; provide public information; interview and train candidates; use hand tools. Monitor administration and maintenance of large recreation areas, including online revenue reporting and ORMS reservation systems. Represent the agency at meetings, conferences, and with partner agencies to communicate objectives and secure cooperation. Prepare area budgets, project resource needs and support the agency’s budget request. Perform related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications At least two years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time technical or professional experience in forestry, parks, or recreational management. An associate’s degree or higher in forestry, natural resources management, or parks and recreation management may substitute for required experience (education toward such a degree is prorated). Possession of a current, valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Current valid Massachusetts driver’s license. Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, odd hours, overtime, and holidays. Preferred Qualifications Current and valid Massachusetts driver’s license. Experience working outside in inclement weather and willingness to work overtime and holidays.
