Patient Care Associate-7w Med/Surg-Full Time Evening 11pm-7:15am-MSM

Description The Patient Care Associate is an integral part of the clinical care team, supporting registered nurses with patient care activities such as assisting with activities of daily living, collecting specimens, performing procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and other duties as needed within the Specialty Service. Responsibilities Assist patients with daily activities (feeding, bathing, toileting, ambulation). Perform and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, intake/output, and pain scale ratings. Collect specimens and perform clinical procedures such as blood glucose, venipuncture, EKG, compression devices, post‑mortem care, and skin integrity maintenance. Set up and assist with selected procedures, following RN guidance. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, including intake/output, vital signs, pain assessments, and observation status. Provide close observation for patients requiring safety, elopement risk, or suicide prevention. Maintain isolation status under RN direction and perform hourly care checks with emphasis on comfort and positioning. Assist with dietary functions, including tray delivery, menu completion, nutritional supplement mixing, and reporting dietary changes to RN/Dietitian. Ensure a clean, functional environment, manage room maintenance, and address equipment issues. Transport patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, or intermittent care areas, and transport specimens. Perform emergency cleanup, transport, and discharge bed make‑ups. Update communication board, discharge log, and admission/transfer/discharge systems. Collaborate with staff to promote cultural diversity and respectful patient interactions. Provide professional, courteous, and respectful demeanor with patients, families, and colleagues. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Certificate in medical assistant or patient care assistant program, with skills in venipuncture and EKG. Documentation of Medical Assistant/Patient Care Associate training. Three to nine months of healthcare experience preferred. Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills. Ability to set priorities, problem solve, use sound judgment, and remain flexible. Proficient oral and written English communication skills. Physical stamina and manual dexterity for varied tasks. American Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS certification.
