Business Sales Consultant

The Business Sales Consultant is primarily responsible for directly contributing to customer growth through active outside sales efforts that enhance business customer growth and retention. This role serves as the primary point of contact for business customers; including making in-person visits to potential and existing customers to offer solutions tailored to meet the needs of each business.

Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct in-person sales visits, calls, and needs assessments with potential business customers to identify service opportunities and recommend appropriate solutions.

Prepare and present customized service proposals, quotes, and agreements.

Follow up on inbound sales leads, referrals, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner; maintains contact with potential customers throughout the sales process.

Maintain contact with existing customer base to focus on customer retention and growth; includes engagement with customers post-installation to ensure customer satisfaction.

Meet or exceed established sales goals established that drive new customer growth, revenue growth, and customer retention.

Assists in the development of sales strategies, marketing campaigns, and various sales initiatives.

Stay current on product and service offerings, pricing, and promotions, as well as competitor activity and market trends in the service territory.

Assist with research and development of new products and services.

Collaborate with all departments to improve processes and that directly impact the customer experience.

Completes service order entry process and ensures service order is accurate to ensure a timely service installation or account update; maintains accurate customer records.

Performs all other related duties assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of consultative sales principles and techniques, including needs assessment, solution positioning, objection handling, and closing strategies.

Knowledge of telecommunications, broadband, and fiber products and services including voice, and managed service solutions relevant to business customers.

Skill in preparing and delivering sales proposals, presentations, and service agreements tailored to the needs of individual business accounts.

Skill in operating various office equipment such as personal computer, various software programs and telephone systems.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Skill in utilization of sales tracking tools and ability to maintain accurate account records.

Ability to present technical concepts to clients and potential clients

Ability to manage and prioritize a high volume of prospects, leads, and active accounts simultaneously to deliver exceptional service.

Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner; build and sustain trusted relationships with customers and members of the community.

Ability to work independently, self-manage daily activity, and exercise sound judgement without close supervision.

Ability to learn and accurately apply complicated rate formulas.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of customer account information.

Education & Experience

Minimum Requirements: Valid Driver's License. High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years experience in sales, account management, or customer service with demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales goals.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field or equivalent experience. Experience in telecommunications, broadband, or technology sales in a rural market.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Work is performed both in a professional office environment and in the field; field work includes travel to customer locations, business sites, and community events throughout the service territory.

Must be able to operate company vehicle, maintain a valid driver's license; regular travel within the service territory is required.

Must be able to operate computer, office equipment, and sales applications required to complete the sales and customer billing process.

Ability to carry and lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Event, meeting and training session attendance outside of normal business hours as required to support sales and marketing activities as required. May include overnight travel.

Must be able to communicate and collaborate with coworkers and various business partners virtually, face-to-face, and over the phone.
