Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to cardiac patients in a stepdown unit, ensuring efficient patient monitoring, proper medication management, and adherence to safety protocols. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care and support patient recovery.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions, interpret EKG strips, and respond to signs of cardiac distress.
• Administer medications such as Heparin, Lasix, and Bumex, and titrate drips within scope.
• Monitor patients' vital signs, manage telemetry equipment, and escalate concerns as needed.
• Perform and document ADLs, FSBS, and assist with procedures like EKGs and equipment setup.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and other staff to coordinate patient care.
• Float to various units as required, ensuring skillset appropriateness and patient safety.

Qualifications:

• Hold valid RN license and current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Demonstrate ability to read EKG strips and manage post-cardiac patient care.
• Experience with cardiac tele monitoring, drips, and telemetry interpretation.
• Familiarity with ventilator equipment such as Bipap and Cpap for supportive therapy.
• Ability to work self-sufficiently with minimal supervision during shadowing and daily operations.
