Veterinary Technician

Richardson, TX Canyon Creek Animal Clinic is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team. We provide primary care, diagnostic testing, acupuncture and a variety of surgical services for dogs and cats in Richardson, Plano and North Dallas. We are proud to be feline friendly. Job Overview As a Veterinary Technician you will provide hands‑on care for outpatient treatments, perform laboratory tests, admit and discharge patients, assist with surgeries, and support the medical team. Experience & Skills Requirements 2+ years of continuous veterinary technician/assistant experience (direct animal/patient care required) Availability to work weekends (Saturdays) and certain holidays Ability to obtain and interpret blood pressure, ECG, SpO₂, and EtCO₂ and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors Comfortable using digital radiography machines to acquire images using proper technique and positioning Prepare animals and instruments for surgery Provide surgical assistance and post‑operative care Desire to practice empathetic, gold standard medicine benefiting patients Team oriented with an ability to collaborate and support each other Positive, kind, and trustworthy communicator with patients, team members, and clients Desire to grow and advance as a veterinary technician Role Responsibilities Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with state Veterinary Practice Act for credentialed veterinary technicians Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and guide on membership options, medications, and additional treatments Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems support Obtain relevant health history and maintain medical charts Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members Professional Growth Free library of continuing education courses (ThriveU) Live, virtual interactive workshops for leadership skill development Program to teach fundamentals of running a pet hospital Benefits – Our Care In Action Paid time off including 8 weeks of full‑pay parental leave, bereavement, and time off for new pet adoptions Top quality medical, dental, and vision insurance plus HSA and FSA Pet perks including free exams, discounts on products and services at all Thrive locations Subsidized backup and ongoing care support for children, adults, and pets Mental health benefits including coaching and therapy sessions 401(k) with employer contribution and no enrollment waiting period Continuing education and development support via our library of free CE courses Compensation Hourly pay rate starting at $16–$23 per hour, negotiable based on credentials and experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr
