Job Summary

We are seeking a Chief Engineer to lead end-to-end architecture, integration, testing, and fielding for the Department of the Air Force Next Generation Gateways (NGG) Zero Trust mandate. The role operates at a systems-of-systems level, directs cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) across networking, computing and storage, hardware and software integration, and cybersecurity, and delivers executive-level communications to senior military and civilian stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems-level architecture, design, integration, initial lab/field testing, site deployment, and knowledge transfer for NGG Zero Trust capabilities across classified and unclassified enclaves.

• Direct and synchronize cross-functional IPTs spanning networking, compute/storage, hardware integration, software integration, and cybersecurity to deliver mission outcomes.

• Define and own the Zero Trust technical approach (identity, access, segmentation, visibility, policy enforcement) and ensure solution maturity through subsystem design documentation, testing, and enterprise deployment.

• Drive requirements management, risk identification and mitigation, test planning, operational transition, and lifecycle systems engineering rigor for complex Defense acquisition scope.

• Coordinate RMF/JSIG alignment, eMASS/A&A activities, STIG enforcement, asset and product support form submissions, and contract data deliverables in partnership with the AFLCMC/HNIB PMO/COR.

• Prepare and deliver clear, concise briefings, technical decision papers, and roadmap recommendations for senior leadership (O-6/GS-15 audiences).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. Experience may be substituted for education.
• Minimum 10 years of enterprise IT engineering and architecture experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional engineering teams through design, integration, test, and fielding.
• Demonstrated experience leading IPTs that span networking, compute and store, hardware integration, software integration, and cybersecurity.
• Demonstrated experience supporting an engineering team to develop, integrate, and deliver a Zero Trust solution.
• Demonstrated experience with executive communications (written and oral) of engineering designs for O-6/GS-15 level stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Lead Systems Engineer or Chief Engineer on a large, complex DoD acquisition program (ACAT II or larger); government or federal system integrator background.
• Prior leadership of teams to develop, integrate, and deliver Zero Trust solutions across multi-enclave environments.
• Experience supporting AFLCMC/HNIB environments and coordinating with joint/service component stakeholders.
• Relevant cloud and enterprise architecture experience (e.g., AWS/Azure, enterprise network modernization, architecture roadmaps, governance).
• Azure or AWS Solution Architect
• Active CISSP or CSSIP
• Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator

Clearance

• Final Secret required (TS with SCI eligibility preferred).

Work Location

• Remote with travel to Hanscom AFB, MA (AFLCMC/HNIB) with potential travel to CONUS and OCONUS base locations for site surveys, installation, and deployment activities.

Travel

• Travel to support engineering integration, design reviews, site surveys, site preparation, equipment installation, and deployment (authorized per NGG ODC & Travel guidance).

The likely salary range for this position is $161,500 - $218,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
