Job Skills / Requirements

United Protective Services is currently hiring an experienced Security Officer for a high-visibility retail assignment inside a major grocery store.

This position is ideal for candidates with prior military, corrections, or law enforcement experience who understand the importance of professionalism, customer service, and conflict de-escalation. Officers assigned to this location serve as a visible deterrent to theft, disturbances, and other unwanted activity while maintaining a welcoming and professional presence for customers and store staff.

Schedule

Saturday: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Sunday: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Tuesday: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Wednesday: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Responsibilities

Maintain a professional, highly visible presence inside the store
Observe and report suspicious activity, safety concerns, and policy violations
Assist in reducing theft and other retail-related incidents through proactive observation
Provide exceptional customer service to customers, employees, and vendors
Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to help resolve conflicts and disturbances
Work closely with store management to address security concerns
Complete required reports and documentation accurately and professionally
Respond appropriately to emergencies and unusual situations

Qualifications

Prior military, corrections, or law enforcement experience required
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
Experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
Professional appearance and demeanor
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

The ideal candidate will be confident without being confrontational, customer-focused while maintaining security awareness, and capable of representing both the client and United Protective Services with professionalism at all times.
